    Too much mobility movement here for me. I fixed my lower back aches and pains with Sumo and Hex Bar dead-lifts. Built up my leg muscles and stabilised my knee and ankle joints at the same time. Started some years ago with a 40kg Sumo dead-lift, now warming up with a 100kg and maxing out about 177 to 180kg. My goal at age 60 is to max out at 200kg.

    This is the first time I did the atg split squats with the front leg on a bench and some side support and they finally clicked for me. I just held the stretch in each side while doing deep breathing, and got a lot of gentle cracks in my hip/pelvic region. My low back pain went away instantly. So grateful for your channel been a long time fan!

    If you're like me and you find Nordic curls cumbersome, you can load up a hamstring curl with heavy weight and have a partner help you with the concentric phase of the movement so that you can focus on the eccentric. It's easier to progress because you can add weight. It's easier to set up if you have the access to a hamstring curl machine. And it is a more objective way to train your hamstrings because the rest of your body is more locked into place.

    Tl:dr - Too Much Dorsiflexion!! Is this good for athletes in football or basketball where the recommended range is 20-35 ish degrees? Some of these exercises in the ATG syst require huge amounts of dorsiflexion like full depth split squat . Im highly aware that it contributes to massive benefits like training the commextive tissue, acceleration, knee health, posture, hip mobility, tendons and ligaments etc But for footballers ⚽ should these exercises be done because excessive dorsiflexion isnt advised. Few questions: 1. Should footballers ⚽ do this exercise despite significant dorsiflexion angle 2. Should footballers go full atg depth or partial atg depth 3.Can footballers do full depth BUT must be paired with ankle stiffness strengthening exercises and or fascia training to see the best results Or is it a case of the benefits just seriously outweigh the drawbacks ( if any)

    • @TheKneesovertoesguy
      @TheKneesovertoesguy 23 години тому

      Footballers absolutely should train full ranges of motion and dorsiflexion! Actually have a soccer program on our ATG app run by one of our ATG Certified coaches who works with high level players!

    Got a crazy burn this morning from 5 mins of backwards walking on a treadmill we found on the side of the road but doesn’t work. Taken me a few months to be able to handle it without pain and with larger steps. Followed your progression advice. Feeling good and fitter and knees and ankles all moving in a positive direction. Great work as always Ben and the ATG fam! ❤❤❤

      @@TheKneesovertoesguy thanks mate!! Went again today and really focused on pushing with the big toes… feeling stronger and better each time I step in the reverse treadmill. Definitely KOT which is a big improvement from when I first started with this treadmill. Decent resistance too.. eventually it’ll become to easy but then I guess I’ll just add volume and time. Such a good burn in the quads, nothing quite like it. Soon I’ll up the pace, bit by bit. P.S. my dog (English Staffy) plays on his tug rope which is attached to the roof while I do my reverse walking. We’re both getting a workout and feeling better for it.

    might be a stupid and not so related question but will cicling backwards give some of the benefits of walking backwards or is it just a bad idea?

    • @TheKneesovertoesguy
      @TheKneesovertoesguy День тому

      Clever idea! But not quite the same, as you are not strengthening from the ground up and building through the foot like you would with actually walking. It’s a good idea, some properties might carryover. But nothing seems to beat sled or the backward treadmill for improving pain-free knee ability! That being said, don’t underestimate simply backwards walking alone! Has helped thousands improve their knees!
